The Conference will bring together communities and professionals to explore the future of Community Led Housing

Key themes of the event:

  • How community-led housing can become a key component for local and regional authorities in delivering growth and housing outcomes across the North
  • Workshopping proposals and models of how the sector can streamline,  scale up and deliver more homes for communities more quickly
  • Community Led Housing for All- how can the sector ensure it empowers minority and disadvantaged communities to have opportunity to create their own homes

The conference will include keynote speakers, workshops, expert presentations, discussion panels and site visits to local community housing schemes in the area.

A headline panel session exploring the potential contribution LCH could make in long term strategic plans of local, regional and national authorities. How can it be nurtured to create additionality? What funding, enabling and policy adjustments are needed to make this happen across the North?

Comparing a regional picture of CLH enabling between different parts of the North. A panel led by Andrew Wilson and Neil Mckenna of Same Skies

Reflecting on the outcomes and next steps in response to the “Community led Housing for All” Report. A discussion session led by Claude Hendrickson MBE, featuring Gary Hartin from the Nationwide Foundation and Blase Lambert of Confederation of Co-operative Housing

Contrasting strategic approaches to enabling CLH in Europe, including the Netherlands and Belgium. A European special guest panel facilitated by Neil McKenna

Enabling Community within mega developments

Discussing how CLH can play a part in creating the community within big new developments. With perspectives from York Central, Climate Innovation District and others.

Rural routes to Community Housing

An expert panel discussing specific challenges and opportunities around creating community housing away from the city. Facilitated by Sarah Hart

Scaling up Ambitions
