Leeds Community Energy

People Powered Homes was the housing transition partner for the Climate Action Leeds project. A Lottery funded project to create a zero-carbon, nature friendly, socially just Leeds and to help promote climate action within the community led housing sector. As phase one of this project has come to an end PPH is starting the next phase of our sustainability work through Leeds Community Energy.

Leeds Community Energy (LCE) started as part of the Climate Action Leeds project to look at what needs to be done to make housing and energy more sustainable and to support local action around community energy and energy saving in the city.

LCE is a group of over 60 people who have an interest in community energy. The group is made up of community groups, energy professionals, tenants associations, academics, energy organisations, climate groups and interested Leeds Citizens. All are welcome to join!

Our aims

To put people at the heart of clean energy in Leeds.

To support local community based energy and retrofit projects

To connect, share knowledge and create collaborations with communities, through events, energy advice & project support.

What is community energy?

LCE is part of a growing national movement of community organisations helping to generate energy to benefit local people. Energy projects that are owned, controlled, or benefit local communities. Putting energy profits back into the local economy rather than big energy companies.

Our goal is to create a greener future for everyone, while getting people involved in making a real difference in their communities. Creating low cost energy, warm healthy homes and reducing carbon.

Are you interested in starting an energy project in your community?

Do you want to get involved with sustainable energy projects like: solar, wind, heat pumps and insulation?
