On 26th May we held a community energy and housing event as part of the Climate Action Leeds project (CAL).
People Powered Homes is the project partner representing housing on the 5 year project. We ran the event jointly with the projects Energy partner Platform, the event took place at Leeds West Indian Centre in Chapeltown and featured speakers from Chapeltown Co-housing (ChaCo) talking about their community led housing project and Canopy Housing talking about their retrofit work. There was also an energy quiz and a world cafe style discussion session posing questions such as ‘If you had your own energy company, what would do?’
Lots of people came along to hear about local projects and we had some great discussions about local housing and energy needs. The input from local residents will help feed into the the city wide climate road map for Leeds, which is being developed by the wider CAL team.
