Just before the holiday break,YorSpace was delighted to welcome members of Lowfield Green Housing Co-operative into their new homes in York’s first housing co-operative.
Lowfield Green Housing Co-operative is a new-build, community-led development created to keep homes affordable for the long-term whilst demonstrating what a low-carbon, neighbourhood can look like. Using One Planet Living principles, sustainability and community has been built into everyday life of the neighbourhood; all of the homes face onto a central, car-free street with a shared green space, alongside cycle parking, car sharing and a tool share workshop.
Seeing the households settle in and start making the place their own has been a huge milestone after years of hard work and patience. With only a handful of households left to move in over the coming months, YorSpace would like to thank all those who have supported the scheme through from our community share investors, partners, funders, and members. We’re really excited to watch the community grow and thrive in 2026!
